Abstract

106,248. Bergman, L. H. Jan. 18,1917. Fuel, feeding.-A pulverulent-fuel burner comprises outer and inner pipes e, d to which fuel and air are supplied so that only one supply of air is required both to atomize the fuel and to effect combustion. The claims cover arrangements wherein the fuel is supplied to the outer pipe, as described in Specification 106,249, but in the arrangements herein described, fuel is supplied by a hopper b and nozzle c to the inner pipe, and air is supplied by a pipe f so that part of the air passing the nozzle c serves to atomize the fuel, the remainder, passing through the annulus between the pipes d, e, serving for combustion. The hori. zontal ends of the pipes d, e consist of flattened nozzles, the nozzle being adjustable by a lever m. In a modification the pipe d has a plain collet end, and the nozzle k has a cylindrical body and a truncated-conical outlet, and is screw-threaded adjustably on to the horizontal end of the pipe e.
