Abstract

A mouldable composition comprises a fibrous filler which may be a sheet material impregnated with a reactive phenolic resinoid comprising residual amounts of a methylene containing agent and a non-phenolic ingredient, for example urea, to combine with all or part of the said residual methylene containing agent. Specification 280,520, [Class 2 (iii), Dyes &c.], is referred to. In an example a white varnish or lacquer is prepared by adding titanium oxide or other white pigment to a solution of the resinoid in alcohol and sheet paper is coated or impregnated therewith. The sheets are dried at 100-120 DEG C., and superimposed to form a pack or used as surface sheets for a pack of sheets treated with other resinoids, and pressed at about 1000 to 2000 lbs. per sq. in. and 150-170 DEG C.ALSO:A mouldable composition, comprises a fibrous filler which may be a sheet material, impregnated with a reactive phenolic resinoid comprising residual amounts of a methylene containing agent, and a non-phenolic ingredient, for example, urea, to combine with all or part of the said residual methylene containing agent.
