Abstract
349,245. Sieves. HADDAN, R., 31, Bedford Street, Strand, London.-(Royer Foundry & Machine Co. ; 158, Pringle Street, Kingston Station, Wilkes - Barre, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.) April 16, 1930, No. 12057. [Class 117.] Apparatus for screening granular material such as foundry sand, consists of two grid members 1, 10, Fig. 3, formed of parallel bars, and disposed transversely to each other, and eccentrics 20, 30 for imparting similar gyratory movements of opposite phase to the members. The bars of the grid 1 are made in the form of a comb between the fingers 2 of which are disposed the bars of the other grid 10. The bars are connected together by through bolts 3 and spacing pieces 4 and the grids are connected to the straps of eccentrics carried by shafts 17, 18, Fig. 2, at the rear and front ends of the machine. A hopper 60 is formed above the screen, the front plate 63 being disposed so as to provide a passage for the oversize material, the discharge of which is controlled by a series of pivoted spring-controlled fingers 72 mounted on a shaft extending between the sides of the hopper. The screened material may pass by way of the shoot 40 to a sand-treating device as described in Specification 229,901, [Class 117, Sifting &c.].
