Abstract

A fertilizer is made by mixing superphosphate or other acidic material containing water-soluble phosphate with a mineral acid or acids and liquid anhydrous ammonia or other ammoniacal liquid, the last-mentioned being in sufficient quantity to substantially neutralize the acid but insufficient to cause substantial loss of the water solubility of the phosphate. Other fertilizing compounds, for example sodium nitrate, potassium chloride or sulphate, ammonium sulphate or leuna saltpetre may be added. The use of sawdust, dried peat or peat moss as additional ingredients is mentioned. Specification 340,120 is referred to.
