Abstract

A lubricating-composition consists of a lubricating oil, preferably a mineral oil, to which is added a soap, to raise the melting point, and an amide or anilide of a higher fatty acid to increase the viscosity of the oil, the composition being free from water. About 5 to 15 per cent of stearic, palmitic, oleic, or arachidic anilide and 3 to 5 per cent of sodium, zinc, or calcium soaps of animal or vegetable oils such as lard, tallow, cottonseed or castor oil, or mixtures of such soaps, may be used.
