Abstract
347,508. Window fastenings and holders. WILSON, A., 143, Monega Road, Forest Gate, London. May 22, 1930, No. 15764. [Class 44.] A sliding-window holding or securing device which can readily be produced by casting comprises an arm 14 bifurcated at one end to carry a roller 18, preferably of rubber, and pivoted at 23 to a back-plate 5, and spaced therefrom by a collar which receives the pivot screw. Plate 5 has apertures to receive fixing screws 7 and lugs 10, 12 between which one end of arm 14 is disposed as shown. A spring 20 bearing against lug 10 and a projection 15 on arm urges the roller into contact with the fixed frame 11, the device being mounted on the sliding frame 9. The device allows upward movement of frame 9 but gains on downward movement. A temporary wedge may be placed between arm 14 and lug 12 to hold spring 20 in compression whilst fixing the device in place, or an abutment screw 24 may be provided in lug 12 for this purpose, and for releasing the window. The ends of arm 14 are rounded off on one side only as shown to facilitate casting in a sand mould.
