529,833. Stays for hinged articles. SCHONITZER, R. I. June 9, 1939, No. 16917. [Class 65 (i)] A stay for a car door &c. comprises a bar 10 pivoted to the door at 14 and carrying a yieldable resilient block 27 adapted, when the door is open, to be gripped and held by a pair of rigid walls 31 of a socket inside the car panel 16, the distance between these walls being less than the corresponding cross dimension of the block, so that part of the block is displaced into the other cross dimension. The arm 10 passes through a resilient pad 45 at the base of the socket, and may be bent at the end as shown. The block 27 is mounted on the arm by a plate 56 and cotter 55 at one end, and a pair of plates 57, 58 at the other end having tongues engaging a slot 61 in the bar to permit the block to slide along the bar.
