Abstract

An antiknocking composition to be added in proportions such as 1-5 per cent to petrol, benzine, alcohol, benzene, or other usual motor fuel, consists of 15 c.c. of aniline, 3 grams of anthracene, 5 grams of camphor, 5 c.c. of castor oil, 10 grams of naphthalene, 12 c.c. of tetrahydro-naphthalene, 6 c.c. of dekahydro-naphthalene, 8 c.c. of hexahydro-naphthalene, 1 gram of nitro-naphthalene, 1 gram of picric acid, 10 c.c. of ether, and 5 grams of cresol, with or without 5,5 c.c of acetone, 6 grams of monochlor-naphthalene, 0,5 c.c. of acrolein, 2 grams of hydroquinone, and 5 grams of benzoic acid. Other proportions may be used.
