Abstract

346,518. Protective cut-out arrangements. GRIPPER, L. A., 25, Lismore Road, Croydon. Feb. 20, 1930, No. 5720. [Class 38 (v).] A pilot circuit P is adapted to be energized from a D.C. source or sources B<1>, B<2> when unbalance occurs in either or both the split-conductor transformers TR<1> TR<2>, so that relays R<3>, R<4> are energized to close the circuits of the trip-coils TC<1>, TC<2> to open the breakers X. The devices R3, R<4> may, alternatively, directly operate a protective device. The contacts of the relays R<1> of the phases are in parallel with one another, and the pilot circuit can be incorporated in the cable as a telephone pair which would enable the testing of the circuit by a telephone. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), a single battery is used at each end.
