Abstract

805,456. Protective cut-out arrangements. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. Jan. 2, 1957, No. 207/57. Class 38 (5). In an earth fault protective arrangement in which the earth fault trip coil EC of a circuitbreaker CB is energized from the secondary winding S of a current transformer CT in the neutral-earth connection of a power transformer PT having a star-connected secondary winding and in which the neutral earth connection includes a disconnectible link NL, the trip circuit is completed through the neutral link so that energization of a test winding T would not cause the tripping of the circuit-breaker and indicate that the protective arrangement is in order when the link is open. In the arrangement shown, one connection from the trip coil EC is to the pivot of the link NL so that when the link is open, the trip circuit is not only opened but also disconnected from earth so that insulation testing may be effected. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the whole of the link NL is included in the trip circuit which is provided with a further disconnectible link to permit insulation testing.
