Abstract

346,439. Luggage attachments. BREWER, S. W., 5, Thesiger Road, Penge, London. Jan. 10, 1930, No. 1028. [Class 136 (i).] Bags are attached to the saddles or other parts of cycles or motor cycles by being provided with projecting bolts or pins adapted to be engaged with slotted members attached to the cycle &c. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 3, bolts 7 attached to a bar 9 secured to the inner surface of the bag are adapted to be engaged in open slots 14 in a second bar member 5 suspended by looped straps 4 from the rear of a cycle saddle, wing-nuts 15 provided on the bolts being adapted to be abutted tightly against the bar 5. The bolts have squared necks 11 and are held in position on the bag by nuts 12 bearing on springs 13. In the form shown in Figs. 4 and 6, the bolts are replaced by flat-sided, headed pins 16 riveted to the inner face of the bar 20 over washers 21. The pins engage with keyhole shaped slots 25 formed in members 17 depending from the saddle or other part of the cycle &c. The members 17 are preferably doubled strips the sides of which are bolted together over distance pieces 27 so as to spread the free ends, to afford a good grip of the pins.
