Abstract
346,138. Draught-excluders for doors. SMART, T. D., 39, Waterloo Street, Oldham. March 20, 1930, No. 8887. [Class 20 (iii).] A sliding strip draught-excluder on the bottom edge of a door is adapted to be pressed into operative position on closing the door by a roller 18 at the junction of two toggle-levers 14, 16 engaging the jamb of the opening side. One lever 14 is pivoted to the door or a moulding thereon, and the second 16 is operatively connected by one or two levers 8 pivoted to the strip at 9 and to the door at 11 and pivotally connected together at 10. The excluder is covered by an L-shaped moulding through which pass the pivots 9, 11, and guide-pins &c. 7 for slotted brackets 6 on the strip. The excluder is raised by a spring 21 acting on the pivoted ends of the levers 8. The levers may be flexible and may each have Sj protruding end for engagement with a lever 16 on either side of door, that end which is not required being cut off.
