Abstract
345,370. Domestic grates. WARR, W., Moorgate, Buckton Vale, and HOLLAND, J. A., Red Bank, Huddersfield Road, both in Stalybridge, Cheshire. Jan. 3, 1930. No. 272. [Class 126.] Coking-chambers.-Firegrates of the type in which the raw coal is distilled in a tray a below the grate before being placed on the fire are provided with a passage d behind the grate by which the distillates may pass to the fire, the back of the grate being, in the form shown, a grid e to allow the distillates to pass. The tray a may, as shown, be mounted on a pivoted plate f which may be adjusted to vary the distance of the tray from the fire, and hence the rate of distillation, and sliding slotted covers h may be provided for the tray to limit the access of air to the coal in it. A movable grid i below the grate acts as a hit-and-miss damper to regulate the flow of distillates through the bottom grate.
