423,312. Open fireplaces. GASKELL, W. H., 3, Preston Road, Southport. Sept. 2, 1933, No. 24389. [Class 126] [See also Group XIII] A boiler in sections 1, 2, 3 arranged in tiers in staggered order and connected by short tubes 5 so that flue gas passes tortuously between them in contact with their horizontal surfaces, is placed in an open fireplace provided with a front cover 9 removable for cleaning the flues. The sections may have internal baffles, and water enters at 6 and leaves at 7, the bottom section 1 resting above the fire on side walls 8. The lower edge of the cover 9 enters a transverse groove in the grate, and the top rests on a sloping plate 12, which carries a hinged flap 13 operated by a rod 13<a> to close the back or front of the chimney flue 14.
