Abstract

343,299. Furnace firebridges. HALLIWELL, G. W., Venetia, Brancaster Lane, Purley, Surrey. Feb. 4, 1930, No. 3757. [Class 51 (i).] A firebridge is formed of stepped inclined metal bars f, the lower ends of which engage in a groove e in a plate a while the upper ends engage in a channel g on the upper edge of a vertical plate h fixed to the plate a, the bars being slotted at m for the discharge of air to the fuel. An opening b in the plate a is adjusted by a deflecting plate or damper c to regulate the air supply from the ashpit to the bridge. The steps of the bars f are inclined so that fuel and clinker fall back towards the grate. A forwardlyprojecting angle-plate may be provided to deflect the hot air on to the fuel bed.
