345,047. Casting aluminium. BRITISH & DOMINIONS FERALLOY, Ltd., 40, Grosvenor Gardens, London, and SYKES, C., 12, Derbyshire Lane, Stretford, Manchester. Feb. 14, 1930, No. 5028. [Class 83 (i).] Casting processes; mould materials.-The operation of casting aluminium, or alloys wholly or chiefly of iron with aluminium, is carried out in an atmosphere containing carbon and chlorine. This atmosphere may be produced from a gas, a liquid, such as trichlorethylene, or a solid, such as chlorinated pitch. The material may, for instance, be introduced into the mould before and, if desired, during casting or a mould, coated with chlorinated pitch, may be used. Iron containing 10 to 20 per cent of aluminium may be cast in this way. The Provisional Specification refers to Specification 322,446, [Class 82 (i), Metals, Extracting uc.]
