Abstract

344,974. Face-powder boxes. HUDNUT, R.. 113, West 18th Street, New York, U.S.A. Dec. 27, 1929, No. 39625. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1928. [Class 18.] A face-powder box has a window for inspecting the contents formed in its side wall, and a lid with an extended flange which covers the window when the lid is fully engaged on the box. In an embodiment, the box has two cylindrical walls 2, 3 between which is secured the flange of a paper seal 5. An aperture in the wall 3 registers with, but is preferably smaller than, a corresponding oval aperture 6 in the wall 2, and secured between the two walls to close the apertures is a sheet 8 of transparent material of any gelatinous substance, e.g. celluloid, cellulose film or the like. The cover of the box abuts against the projecting, octagonal base 1 but, when lifted, it allows the contents to be viewed through the window 8. The flange of the cover may comprise an ornamental, e.g. polygonal, outer portion and a cylindrical inner portion fitting to the wall 3. A cardboard sheet may be interposed between the powder and the seal 5.
