Abstract
344,254. Memorandum appliances. HARRIES, A. W., 25, Porchester Square, London. March 26, 1930, No. 9672. [Class 16.] In a simplified apparatus for manifolding, of the type in which paper webs are fed forward over a platen from rolls or zig-zag pads in the interior of the device, carbon webs being interposed and traversed transversely of the paper, two metallic standard c support the platen d beneath which is mounted the container e, for the paper webs f, f<1>, f<2>, either in rolls or folded as shown. The paper webs are held in position by a guide-bar h and a spring- pressed clamping bar n, provided with a bevelled edge v, to facilitate tearing off the perforated paper sheets. The bar n is released by a crank handle t, which, upon depression, rotates a spindle r, carrying eccentrically mounted cams q, which raise pins p, attached to the bar n, against the action of springs u. The carbon sheets g are mounted on a roller i, fixed to the side of one standard c, and are fed transversely across the platen, and clamped by the bar k to the other standard. Registration pins are provided in known manner on the front of the platen d to engage apertures in the paper webs.
