Abstract

249,319. Gestetner, S. March 20, 1925. Stencils. - In a combined stencil sheet and backing sheet, one of the sides of a stencil sheet 1 is secured throughout its length, as by gumming or pasting, to the corresponding side of a backing sheet 2, means, such as keyhole slots 4, for securing the stencil on a duplicator being arranged or being adapted to be formed adjacent to the edge of the backing sheet remote from that to which the stencil sheet is secured. This arrangement is particularly adapted for use on the machine described in Specification 202,736, the lines of matter cut in the stencil sheet being parallel to the direction of motion of the sheet and the longer side of the sheet being secured to the backing sheet. The material of the sheet 2 may be thinned adjacent to the line 6 of connection to the sheet 1. A sheet 7, Fig. 3. or a sheet 8, Fig. 2, may be detachably secured to the backing sheet 2 to form an extension thereof. These extensions may be of hard, tough or ink-impermeable paper and may be detached after the stencil is fixed on the duplicator; alternatively, they may be of tissue paper and form protector sheets when cutting the stencil.
