Stencils; stencil-printing apparatus.-A stencil sheet is clamped in position in a duplicating- machine by means of flexible tongues c provided on the securing edge of the sheet. As shown in Fig. 1, the tongues c consist of a series of separate strips secured to the leading-edge a<1> of the backing-sheet a of a stencil b : another form is also shown in which the tongues c project from an integral strip fixed to the edge a<1>. The clamping-device may consist of a plate d, Fig. 5, to which a bar e is pivotally connected, the tongues c being passed through slots f in an extension d<1> of the plate, which is then bent around the bar e into either of the positions shown in Fig. 6. Alternatively, the tongues c may be clamped on to projections g, Fig. 7, on the plate d by means of a clamping-bar h sliding in slots i, or they may be clamped against a plain surface on the bar d by means of a roller g<1>, Fig. 10, sliding in inclined slots i.
