[Class 100 (ii).] Inking-apparatus.-In duplicating-machines of the kind comprising inking-cylinders and a flexible stencil-carrier secured to endless driving-bands connecting the cylinders, a device is provided to facilitate cleaning the cylinders by removing the ink, the device consisting of a scraper and means associated therewith adapted to engage a part of the machine to retain the edges of the scraper against the cylinders during the rotation thereof. As shown applied to the machine described in Specification 333,006, [Class 100, (ii), Printing processes &c.], comprising inking-cylinders 15, 15a at each side of which a pair of arms 14 is provided for facilitating placing the ink-distributing rollers in correct position between the cylinders, the scraper comprises a blade 1 detachably mounted on a frame 8, which is placed in position on the machine after the distributing-rollers have been removed, and which is provided with arms 12, 12a adapted to be turned so as to engage the arms 14 and press the blade 1 against the cylinders. The frame 8 carries also arms 6 extending between the cylinders so as to prevent rotation of the blade by the cylinders. The blade has holes engaging pins 5 on the frame 8 and recesses 4 engaging the arms 6. A sheet-metal strip 7 is bent about the frame 8 and forms therewith a tubular guide for a pair of rods 9, 9a carrying the arms 12, 12a and provided with handles 10, 10a adapted to slide in slots 11, 11a in the guide and to be turned into lateral extensions of the slots similar to a door-bolt arrangement whereby the rods may be moved outwardly, turned to press the arms 12, 12a against the members 14, and then secured in position. The blade 1 consists of a strip of resilient material, the edges being covered with sheet rubber or a gelatine composition.
