Abstract

189,332. Southby, E. Nov. 8, 1921. Sheet holders; carbon papers, means for manipulating; memorandum appliances.-Manifolding apparatus for shop bills, receipts and the like, consists of a base a carrying a container b for the bills &c., the bills being in the form of folded superposed continuous strips c which pass out of the container and are interleaved with a corresponding number of carbon sheets e clamped to the base. The strips c are perforated transversely at intervals and pass under the roller d and a clamping device f, the latter being provided with a spring m causing the edge f<1> to grip the strips which are released by depressing the trigger f<2>. The carbon sheets e are secured to the base by two clamping strips g, each of which is held in place by a socket h at one end and a key-hole slot g<1> and nut i at the other end. A metal plate or other smooth writing surface j is secured to the base, the carbon sheets being secured above it. The end j' of this plate, projects beyond the base so as to provide a sharp edge for detaching the bills &c. Two detachable division walls n engaging slots on the container, allow of the adjustment of the opening b<1> in the wall of the container for various sizes of strips.
