Block and sheet holders; book-keeping. - A duplicate writing appliance adapted to hold a paper record strip in selected positions upon an account sheet or book comprises a pair of wires joined together in spaced parallel relationship by spaced bridge pieces which define a writing aperture and act as guides for a paper strip which is movable longitudinally between the wires. The bridge pieces between the parallel wires 1, 2, Fig. 2, consist preferably of plates 3, 4 provided respectively with cover plates 8, 11 hinged upon the wire 2 and adapted to engage beneath flaps 5 hingedly mounted on the opposite wire 1. A handle 13 for manipulating the appliance is hinged upon the plate 11, a clip 12 to engage the adjacent flap 5 being provided to hold the plate down when the appliance is lifted. To facilitate the registration of the appliance upon an account sheet the end of the base plate 14, Fig. 3, of the hinged handle 13 may be rolled to form a tubular holder 15 for a slidable wire 16 with a pointer or projecting portion 17 offset at right-angles thereto. The record strip used in the appliance is provided with a. carbonized backing, and the arrangement of the hinged plates 8, 11 is such that, when closed, they are spaced from the back plates to an extent sufficient to allow the strip to he adjusted longitudinally. The plates of the bridge pieces may be made of either transparent or opaque material.
