Clips, pivoted-jaw.-In spring clips for paper &c. sheets comprising a primary jaw for normally holding the papers and a supplementary jaw for holding the papers temporarily while the primary jaw is open, the supplementary jaw f is pivoted on the rear end a<2> of the primary jaw a and is pressed outwards by a flat spring g attached at g<1> to the jaw a. The jaw a is pivoted on a pin a<1> carried by side walls b on a base plate b<2>, and is actuated by a spring c. The outward movement of the jaw f is limited by engagement of lateral projections f<4> against the edges of recesses in the side walls b. In operation, a sheet of paper d to be inserted in the clip against the base plate b<2> is placed with its edge overlapping the end a<3> of the jaw a and then the jaw f is pressed against the base plate b<2>; continued pressure compresses the spring c and causes the rear end a<2> of the jaw a to recede from the base plate b<2> until it is clear of the edge d<1> of the paper, and on releasing the pressure the, spring c forces the end a<3> of the, jaw a to grip the paper before the jaw f releases its grip under the action of the spring g.
