Abstract

344,076. Valve amplifying and detecting circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., Columbia House, Aldwych, London.- (Assignees of Heising, R. A. ; 2, Duncan Street, Millburn, New Jersey, U.S.A.) Dec. 5, 1929, No. 37313. Convention date, Jan 2. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v).] A screen-grid valve with its associated input and output circuits is so arranged and connected that there is substantially no coupling between these circuits due to parts being common to both circuits and entirely separate paths are provided for the charging currents for the capacity constituted by the screening grid and the anode. Similar arrangements may be made for the screen-grid to control grid capacity and one lead to the screening grid may be taken through one wall of the valve and another lead to the screening grid be taken through the opposite wall. The input and output circuits are arranged in separate compartments in a screening box with the valve projecting through an aperture (Fig. 4, not shown). High-frequency chokes are provided in all supply leads. A similar arrangement for the valve used as a detector is employed and in the output a low-pass filter is provided. Fig. 2 shows an arrangement in which coupling due to the charging current to the capacities formed by the screening grid and the grid and anode respectively is eliminated. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement in which, in addition, the coupling due to a lead to the filament common to the input and output is obviated. The invention is particularly applicable to short-wave signalling.
