Abstract
343,634. Pistons. TALBOT, E., Zephyr Lodge, The Avenue, Lowestoft. Dec. 6, 1929, No. 37457. [Class 122 (i).] In a piston in which the gudgeonpin bosses 7 are cast integral with the head 2, a scraper-ring is secured at the lower end of the skirt by a detachable member secured to the under side of the bosses. In a piston having a separate sheetmetal skirt 3 the scraper-ring groove may be formed by an inturned portion of the skirt secured to the bosses by studs 9. Alternatively, the groove may be formed between a flange at the bottom of the skirt and a plate 5 spaced by washers 10. One of the washers may be formed with a tongue 15 entering the split in the ring. The bottom of the groove may be open, or may be closed by an axial flange on the skirt, or on the plate 5. Specifications 306,430 and 320,241, [both in Class 122 (i), Engine and like cylinders &c.], are referred to.
