Nov. 14, 1929, No. 32599/30. Convention date, March 16, 1929. Divided on 343,442. [Class 103 (i).] A brake shoe is formed by rolling T-section bar to the curve of the finished shoe and cutting away the flange to reduce the rigidity at various points. The bar is rolled into a split ring and the flange is cut away to form a tapering portion 5 which ends abruptly at 7 where the flange is considerably cut away to form a flexible part 9, a part 11 being left to which is attached the adjuster which changes the effective length of the shoe. The part 5 is notched at 17 to engage the anchor pin. The ends of the brake lining supporting part of the shoe are tapered to avoid contact with the brake backplate at the anchorage. Holes 10, 12, 13 are bored for retractor springs.
