Nov. 14, 1929, No. 32600/30. Convention date, March 16. Divided on 343,442. [Class 103 (i).] A brake anchorage comprises a pin having an enlarged head engaging one side of the backplate and an internal upset portion engaging the other side. The pin 92, Fig. 3, has an elongated conical head 93 between which and the plate A is a non- metallic shim 96. The pin is upset by a hollow die having the same diameter as the small cylindrical part 94, to form an annular shoulder 98. The ends of the annular brake shoe 2 engage the part 94 and are laterally located by a washer 100 secured by upsetting a tip 95. The anchor pin is mounted in a raised part 86 of a U-shaped rib R raised inwardly in the plate A. The rib is also raised to a maximum height at two parts 85. The shoe is supported on the ends of the rib R and by rollers 44, 44a and is expanded by a horizontally acting toggle T. An adjuster J is provided in order to change the effective length of the shoe to compensate for wear.
