Abstract
343,370. Mercury-vapour rectifiers. AKT.-GES. BROWN, BOVERI ET CIE, Baden, Switzerland. April 4, 1930, No. 10718. Convention date, April 6, 1929. [Class 39 (i).] In a mercury-vapour rectifier having the cathode mercury cooled by a circulatory process, the cooled mercury is conveyed through the arc space in the form of a continuous jet on which the cathode spot is formed. As shown, mercury is forced by a pump through a cooler g and a nozzle d which, with a mercury collector e, is insulated from the casing. An ignition anode c is provided. In a modification, (Fig. 2, not shown), the pump is housed within the rectifier.
