Abstract

342,709. Box &c. fastenings. SWEENEY, R., 35, Russell Road, Whalley Range, Manchester. Sept. 26, 1929, No. 29134. [Class 44.] A cornice member 4 is pivotally and slidable mounted on opposite ends of the body 6 of the box &c. by studs 5 passing through slots in end-pieces 4a so that it can be moved clear of, or into engagement over, the edge of the lid 8. Staples 9 on the lid pass through apertures 4e in member 4 and receive a securing rod which may be removable, but is preferably permanently mounted on the box by eyes 12, the rod 11 having its ends 11a bent so that they may be engaged in the eyes 9 as shown. A wire with a seal 13 may be passed through the end 11a to secure the fastening. Member 4 may be bent up from sheet metal with the ends 4a integral with the parts 4c and secured by welding to the part 4d.
