Abstract

342,593. Stud-and-socket fastenings. TUCK-TITE LOCK & FASTENER CO., Ltd., 16, Christopher Street, Finsbury Square, and WIDMER, H. A., 32, Clerkenwell Road, both in London. March 26, 1930, No. 9682. [Class 44.] A fastener for a handbag or the like consists of a container 5 supporting the stud 1 which has an internal sleeve 12 held up from the container by the spring 6 ; slots 13 in the stud 1 receive the spring- pressed slides 8 attached to the flap portion of the bag. When the fastening is to be released the sleeve 12 is depressed as shown in Fig. 7. The chamfered edge 14 of the sleeve engages those of the slides 8 and moves these members back against the action of the springs 10. The stud 1 can then be depressed, lugs 7 on the stud moving in the slots 18 in the container 5, so that the flap of the bag can be opened. When the stud is released, the spring 6 returns the sleeve 12 and stud 1 to their normal positions.
