341,762. Street-sweeping machines. DIEDERICH, R., 27, Gumpendorferstrasse, Vienna. Feb. 28, 1930, No. 6669. Convention date, March 22, 1929. [Class 107).] A street-sweeping device, which is mounted as a trailer behind a tractor 13 so as to feed sweepings by mechanical means to the tractor, is provided with a single axle 14 having steering-wheels 4 forming two points of support, and is connected with the tractor by a releasable coupling 1 which forms the third point of support. The sweeping device is provided with a gutter-sweeping brush 2 adapted to convey sweepings into the range of a centrifugal brush 5 which operates in association with an elevator 3. The brush 5 and elevator 3 are both driven by an engine on the sweeping device. The coupling 1 comprises a ball-shaped member i on the tractor 13 and a socket on the elevator 3 or frame of the sweeper. The coupling is releasable by means of a lifting device consisting of a screw spindle 12 carrying a roller 11 which is mounted in a bracket 10 on the elevator 3, and in the released position of the coupling the roller 11 supports the sweeping device. This lifting operation may be effected manually or from the engine on the sweeping device. A mechanical distributer for the sweepings may be provided on the tractor.
