341,321. Knitting-machines. HEMPHILL CO., Central Falls, Rhode Island, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Lawson, R. H. ; Pawtucket, and Cloutier, A. N. ; Lonsdale, both in Rhode Island, U.S.A.) Feb. 25, 1930, No. 6212. Convention date, April 9, 1929. [Class 74 (ii).] Means are provided for yieldingly maintaining the sinkers or web-holders of a knitting-machine against the fabric except at or adjacent to the knitting point. The invention is particularly directed to machines having means for selectively operating the sinkers or web-holders for reverse plating, e.g. as described in Specification 256,612, [Class 74 (ii), Knitting &c.]. In one form, Fig. 1, the circular part of the sinker cam ring is formed in sections 4 which are urged inwardly by spring- controlled plungers 14. In another form, Fig. 6, the outer wall of the sinker cam trick consists of cams 56, 57, 74, 75 freely mounted in the cam cap and urged inwardly by springs 58, 59, 68, 69.
