340,842. Sights for firearms. ZEISS, C., [Firm of], Carl-Zeiss-Strasse, Jena, and MACKENSEN, F., Worpswede, near Bremen, both in Germany. Feb. 15, 1930, No. 5101. [Class 119.] A foresight for use with an optical sight comprises a non-reflecting diaphragm d, Fig. 1, with an aperture e illuminated from the front by an inclined diffusing reflector i, Fig. 2, or s, Fig. 4. The foresight has also two horizontal apertures f<1>, f<2> and an auxiliary foresight g. The reflector i is hinged at h and held up in the operative position by a spring k or out of action by a yielding spring catch l. The reflector s has one face s<1> white and the other s<2> self-luminous, and is provided with pins q, r movable in slots o, p in lateral plates n<1>, so that the reflector can be set with the white face s<1> upwards as in full lines to reflect daylight, or turned round to the oblique position indicated by dotted lines when the sight d is illuminated by the self-luminous face s<2>.
