Abstract
495,764. Sights. GILES, G. H., SCHAFFLER, W. L., and MACRAE, A. E. May 13, 1937, No. 13512. [Class 119] A sight for a rifle &c. comprises a tube 1 having at one end an internal enlargement 5 to receive a double-convex eyepiece lens 7, and at the other end an internal enlargement 6 to receive a graticule disc 9 and a light-diffusing disc 10. The ends 8, 11 of the tube are inturned to retain the lens 7 and disc 10. The distance between the enlargements 5, 6 is such that the graticule is in the focal plane of the lens, so that the lens projects an image of the graticule to infinity. In use one eye is applied to the lens 7 and the other eye views directly the object to be aimed at, so that an image of the graticule appears superposed on the object, without parallax. The aperture 13 in the disc 9 is preferably in the form of an equilateral triangle. Specification 17939/01, [Class 119], is referred to.
