[Class 83 (iv).] In rolling tubes in a pilger mill the metal is reduced at a, smoothed at b, further reduced at c and finally smoothed at d the roll passes being correspondingly shaped. The first reducing is greater than the second reducing and the smoothing surfaces are circular arcs concentric with the roll axis.
