Abstract

PURPOSE:To impose the local rolling reduction in order to widen the breadth, by forming a ring type protuberance at a specified place in the outer circumference of the roll drum. CONSTITUTION:The rolling mill 5 consists of the locally reducing rolling stand 5a provided with a couple of rolls in which the ring type protuberance is formed at a specified place of the outer circumference of the roll drum, and the following two ordinary rolling stands 5b provided with a couple of rolls possessing flat drums. The locally reducing rolling stand 5a is equipped with the rolling reduction adjuster 9, by which the thickness of the cast billet passing through the gap between upper and lower rolls 7, 8, is changed and the rolling reduction is adjusted. If the cast billet 2 is rolled for a specified rolling reduction with the locally reducing rolling stand 5a, the cast billet 2 undergoes a local reduction due to the ring type protuberances 10 of upper and lower rolls 7, 8; hereby, the metal of the reduced part flows in the direction of breadth, and the breadth is widened correspondingly to the rolling reduction.
