Abstract

340,159. Knives. NUTBROWN, T. M., 18, Lynwood Avenue, Layton, Blackpool. Feb. 1, 1930, No. 3466. [Class 30.] A combined slice regulator and knife guard comprises a bar or rod slice regulator a connected by means of a rotary crank b to the boss c<1> of a two-membered clamp c for holding the knife blade, and a flat plate or like guard e having tubular or curled edges, one tube-like edge of which fits loosely over the rod a. The crank b passes through the boss c<1> and has a screwed extension b<2> carrying a nut d for securing the crank b in any position. The knife blade is held in the clamp c by means of screws d<1>. The rod a, which lies parallel to and at variable distances above the knife edge, regulates the thickness of the slice and the plate e falls vertically (Fig. 4) in front of the knife edge on the completion of a cut. The rod a may itself, be bent so as to form the crank b or an end of one of the clamp members c may be formed with a vertical elbow-like extension carrying the rod a which may be clamped in any position in said elbow by means of a nut screwed on it. The clamp c may also be formed to fit on to the handle of the knife.
