Abstract
424,107. Paper-cutting tool. GELLEFF, A. A., 103, Woodland Gardens, Isleworth, Middlesex. April 20, 1934, No. 11934. [Class 31 (ii)] A hand-tool for cutting and trimming paper and like material, particularly for use in trimming edges of wallpaper, comprises a channelled or grooved handle adapted to receive a blade holder, the blade being arranged to project through an opening or a series of slots formed in the handle. The holder is preferably mounted on an adjustable slide. In the construction shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 5, a handle a is made of sheet metal which is doubled to form a channel in which the edge of the paper is received, so that as the tool is drawn or pushed it is guided by the edge of the paper. The upper part of the handle has a block c with a screw i projecting to engage in a slot y formed in a slide d. The slide carries a safety-razor blade f and is fixed in position by a wing nut h. The blade may be in a vertical plane or inclined. The lower edge of the blade projects through an opening k or through one of a series of slots m formed in the lower part of the handle. A guard p for the edge of the blade is made from a part of the handle. The slide d may be provided with a pointer for co-operation with a graduated scale to indicate the width of the cut-off strip. The blade may be mounted in front of the block c to allow greater adjustment of the slide d. The tool when in use is drawn rearwardly along the edge of the paper with the blade at the front of the tool. In the modification shown in Fig. 12, the blade is at the rear and the tool, in use, is pushed forwardly.
