Abstract

496,576. Cutting paper &c. ANDERSEN, J. C. June 1, 1937, No. 15229. [Class 31 (i)] A device for rounding the corners of a sheet of paper, cardboard or the like comprises a movable upper blade 5 of rounded angular form having an opening 9 to provide angularly related cutting edges 10, 11 connected by a curved edge, which edges co-operate with the edge 12 of a fixed lower blade 4 when the upper blade is depressed by a knob 21 against a spring 13. A portion 15 of the spring 13 engages at its end with a slot 16 in the blade 5 to urge it upwards and a portion 17 projects at its end through a hole 19 in the fixed blade and engages a slot 20 in the movable blade to act as a guide. The blade 5 is further guided by a sheet-metal member 8. A sheet to be trimmed is positioned by the angularly related portions of the blade 5 with its corner projecting through the opening 9 as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 5. The sheet may be additionally or alternatively positioned by upstanding flanges 26 of a plate 22 adjustably mounted by a screw 25 and slot on the casing 1 of the device. The device can be used for cutting notches in the edges of sheets.
