Abstract
338,181. Hagemeister, J., and Janair, Ltd. July 16, 1929. Frames; cylirders, heads of, mounting, and cooling.-In a multicylinder engine a cylinder head 10, which is common to all the cylinders, is formed as a girder and supports the engine as a whole. The cylinders 11 are suspended from the head and the crank-shaft bearings are bolted to the head by long bolts 20 which are slotted to receive plate struts 18. Transverse and longitudinal plates 30, 29, which are located by tongues and slots 32, 34 and electrically welded, from the water jacket; alternatively, the plates may be secured by angle irons.
