Frames; cylinders, construction of.-In a multicylinder engine having a boxframe a to which are secured the cylinder heads b, bearing blocks d, e, for the crank shaft are clamped to the frame a by tie rods c which also serve to hold down a cylinder head b. Flanges c<1> on the tie rods c retain the bearing blocks in position when the cylinder heads are removed. The upper bearing blocks e are adjusted in the ordinary manner by screws f; and between the lower blocks d and the frame a, packing may be placed. A sheet-metal case g forms the lower half of the crank-case.
