337,913. Monsch, R. Oct. 1, 1929. Pivoted - sliding windows; frames.- Two or more pivotedsliding sashes have plates 20, 20<1> secured thereto and pivoted on sliding stiles 42, 49 bent to form recesses 41, 48 for the plates and pairs of guiding flanges 40, 44 and 47, 51. The flanges 44, 47 engage recesses formed in the bent metal parting strip provided with flanges bedding against the flat surfaced frame and secured by screws 37. When pivoted inwardly, the sashes are supported by stays 82, Figs. 3 and 5, having studs engaged by springs 87 in recessed slots in the plates 20, 20<1>, and pivoted in housings 38' in the sliding stiles. The guides formed in the parting bead may be angular recesses or inwardly bent ends of the flanges 36. The sash pivots are screws preferably passing through bosses on the stiles engaging the plates 20, 20<1>. The sash chains are secured by loops to hooked strips carried by the tops of the plates 20, 20<1>. In the upright position, the plates 20, 20<1>, are secured by latch pins 31, Fig. 3, to the sliding stiles. The outer sash is narrower than the inner one to allow it to pivot past the inner sliding stile.
