Abstract

337,587. Mansfield, T. E. Oct. 23, 1929. Ladders; scaffolding.-A convertible long and step ladder comprises two ladder portions, one of greater width than the other, adapted to be hinged together on bolts 5 so as to provide ladder extensions to which are secured, by nuts and bolts, flat metal straps 7 acting as stays to secure the ladder portions in adjusted angular positions. The stays may fit between the extension of one ladder portion and the main portion of the other ladder, as shown at 10. When used as an extension ladder, the bolts 5 are removed and the one ladder portion slides on the rungs of the wider ladder portion in guiding brackets 15.
