Ladders.-In a stepladder particularly for use against walls &c., the parts are pivoted together by pins e on the step part b engaging slots d in lugs c carried by the strut part a; and the part b is provided with parts f extending above the pins e to limit the spread instead of or in addition to the usual cord. A collapsible hand-rail g, supported by a pair of standards pivoted to the part b, one of which standards h is prolonged and pivoted to the strut part a at n, may be provided. The strut part a may be solid, as shown, or of skeleton or frame construction, and may be extended upwardly to form a handhold or knee-rest; or the ladder may have a flat top shelf in place of this extension.
