Abstract

887,733. Ladders. CROSSLEY, G. S., and CROSSLEY, H., [trading as CROSSLEY BROS.] Dec. 16, 1959 [Jan. 27, 1959], No. 2853/59. Class 20(2) A step-ladder convertible to an extension ladder comprises two parts 10, 18; locking means 11a and support means 16 being provided on the part 10 respectively adjacent the top and intermediate the ends thereof, and being arranged to co-operate with elements on the other part 18 whereby an extension ladder, a step-ladder, or a step-ladder having unequal limbs may be formed, Figs. 1, 2 and 3 (not shown). The locking means and support means both comprise slotted plates which respectively engage extensions 20 of, and the main parts of, the rungs of the ladder part 18; the locking means having plates 13 pivoted to the slotted plates 11a to positively retain the rung extensions 20. Stays 21 may be provided for added rigidity when the ladder is used as a step-ladder.
