Abstract

337,348. Lander, C. H., Sinnatt, F. S., King, J. G., and Bakes, W. E. July 23, 1929. Carbon.-Active carbon which has been employed for the adsorption of sulphur compounds, e.g. hydrogen sulphide and carbon disulphide is reactivated by treatment in a heated condition with a volatile basic substance. The basic substance may be ammonia or bodies such as aniline, pyridine and quinoline may be used. The basic substance is added to superheated steam with a small proportion of air and passed through the activated carbon in the purifying apparatus in the reverse direction to that traversed by the gases to be purified.
