337,075. Hemphill Co., (Assignees of Lawson, R. H.). Jan. 24, 1929, [Convention date ]. Stocking and socks.- Full fashioned hosiery formed partly by circular and partly by reciprocating knitting is provided, at the parts formed by reciprocation, with selvedges containing enlarged non-knitted loops and with severed yarns passed through the terminal loops and held thereby. The stocking &c. is knitted from the calf downward to the calf in an upward direction, by reciprocation. To fashion the leg by narrowing a needle is withdrawn periodically from either side. The heel is made as a full fashioned pouch or by the ordinary narrowing and widening process. The foot and toe is made of the shape shown in Fig. 3 the edges 21, 23 and 24 being selvedges, or as shown in Fig. 3a.
