[Class 74 (ii)] A straight-bar machine for knitting the leg, heel tabs, and foot of a, full fashioned stocking has an instep loop transfer bar with transfer points which, after taking the loops from the instep needles, move half a needle space along the needle row. then forwardly between. the needles to position the instep loops in front of the needle row while the heel tabs are being knit and then backwardly to replace the loops on the needles. The invention is described as applied to a machine of the type disclosed in Specification 411,517, the instep bar with its immediate operating means being carried by a tie rod of the narrowing frame that is operated by members from a cam on the main shaft. The subject-matter is the same as that described in Specification 487,858.
