Abstract
335,773. Dorman, Long, &. Co., Ltd., and Kirby, M. R. Oct. 26, 1929. Sledges. - Scraper apparatus for transporting coal &c. along the floor of a working to a receptacle which transports the coal to a discharging point comprises an open topped box-like structure with turn-down hinged sides which is loaded by a scraper, the loaded receptacle being hauled to a tippler or other discharging position. The box-like receptacle a may have wheels d running on rails c or may have runners, and has sides f hinged to the bottom b, the sides being lowered so that a scraper can haul the coal from the working face into the receptacle. The receptacle is positioned in the haulage road and is fitted with a main and tail-rope haulage device k, q. The main haulage rope k has extensions m passing over pulleys. n to the sides f so that a pull on the rope first raises the sides to the vertical position the coal thereon loading the receptacle. The loaded receptacle is then hauled to a tippler which discharges the coal.
